Landlords have been given improved tax relief in an attempt to encourage investment in the sector.
Under the new measures, landlords can get 100pc mortgage interest relief on loans used to purchase, improve or repair their residential property (previously it was 80pc).
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy said: ‘We have to introduce measures that will incentivise landlords to remain as landlords.’

The Government had already signalled that full mortgage interest relief would be brought in by 2021 but Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe said it was important to speed it up to keep existing landlords in the sector.
