Number of homes on Airbnb across Dublin could house all of capital's homeless – Irish Mirror

The number of homes for rent on Airbnb across Dublin is enough to house all the capital’s homeless people, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

Our probe of data from an independent watchdog found more than 4,000 properties are available on the holiday platform.

Figures from Inside Airbnb show enough houses and apartments to provide homes for the 4,500 people with no permanent accommodation.

This includes 1,103 families living in emergency hotels, hubs and B&Bs.

Commenting on our investigation, Peter McVerry Trust chief Pat Doyle described the situation in Dublin as “madness”.
