Concerns have been raised about the height and cost of the housing development on RTÉ grounds.
Cairn Homes paid the broadcaster €107.5 million for an 8.64-acre site in Donnybrook, where it plans to build 611 high-end flats and nine houses. RTÉ put the site on the market in 2017 through the estate agent Savills with a guide price of €75 million.
The developer also has applied to change the use of the protected structure, Mount Errol House, from commercial offices to a residential amenity.
The application by Carin Homes is going through the Strategic Housing Development (SHD) process. This route allow developers to bypass local authorities and have their applications decided by An Bord Pleanála instead. Councillors however must be consulted on the developments.
