Coronavirus in Ireland: Airbnbs still available in Kildare, Laois and Offaly – The Times

Holiday homes were still available to rent on Airbnb in Kildare, Laois and Offaly last week, despite the Covid-19 restrictions imposed there.

While checking into hotels in the three counties is banned other than for “essential” reasons, there were bookings available for houses in Kildare, Laois and Offaly for the weekend just finished.

One host contacted by phone did mention that the area was in “lockdown”, but did not ask about the reasons for the trip or whether it was essential. Another host asked for the purpose of the trip. On being told it was visiting friends in the area, they confirmed the reservation.

Other hosts confirmed bookings within minutes without any further contact. All of the rooms were booked for two people.
