DESPITE the pandemic, the average rent in Kildare is up two per cent on the same time as last year and now stands at an eye-watering €1,368 per month.
This is also the third highest figure in the country after Dublin (€2,030) and Wicklow (€1,435).
These rentals vary in Kildare from €1,024 for a one-bed apartment, to €1,638 for a five-bed detached house.
These figures were revealed in the quarterly review of industry by real estate website Daft.ie, and it shows an average monthly rent rise of 1.2 per cent in the year to July.
One of the main reasons for the continued spike in rental costs is that just one in four houses for sale are made available to rent – just, 4,698 out of the 19,538 listed on 1 August.
